The Department of Molecular and Cell Biology at UC Berkeley is seeking a highly motivated individual to carry out research in Neurobiology

      Responsibilities:

The main responsibility of the successful candidate will be to work on the neural circuit mechanics underlying variation in a simple escape behavior of zebrafish. Research aims to determine the mechanisms that underlie behavior variation between individuals. Specifically, the Associate Specialist will explore how signaling pathways initiated by neuromodulatory G Protein-Coupled Receptors (GPCRs) modulate the properties of neuronal networks to increase behavioral diversity in animal populations. The lab is exploring the genetic architecture of behavioral variability.

Minimum/Basic Qualifications Required (By the time of application): Ph.D., or equivalent degree, in Molecular and Cell Biology, Biochemistry, or related field.

Additional Required Qualifications (By start date):

A minimum of two years postdoctoral experience in a laboratory setting using advanced microscopy and analysis techniques. Must have experience in zebrafish husbandry and transgenesis.

      Preferred Qualifications (By start date):
