Hello everyone.I read some articles over net which says that in the Nitrification process of Nitrogen Cycle Nitrosomonas Bacteria converts ammonia to nitrite and Nitrobacter converts Nitrite to Nitrate. But also read some contradicting research articles which stated that instead of Nitrobacter a new type called Nitrospira are the ones who actually oxidizes Nitrite to Nitrate.

Need opinions from the experts whether this is true or not.

Yes, I would agree with that, actually, Nitrobacter, Nitrospina, Nitrococcus and Nitrospira, all chemotrophs in fact, oxidize nitrite, so there must be others I haven’t heard of.

      2NO2+O2 = 2NO3
