What’s balanoglossus? Whatever it is, if it’s a vertebrate, then yes it is in the same phylum as humans.

      Scientific classification for Balanoglossus:
      Kingdom: Animalia
      Subkingdom: Metazoa
      Superphylum: Deuterostomia
      Phylum: Hemichordata
      Class: Enteropneusta
      Family: Ptychoderidae
      Scientific classification of Homo sapiens:

      Kingdom: Animalia
      Phylum: Chordata
      Class: Mammalia
      Order: Primates
      Superfamily: Hominoidea
      Family: Hominidae
      Subfamily: Homininae
      Tribe: Hominini
      Genus: Homo
      Species: H. sapiens

They aren’t in the same phylum are they?

      (Classifications are taken from wikipedia)

I’m wondering where you came up with this question? I just found out Balanoglossus is a deuterostome and I figure it isn’t a ‘big’ phylum, (it isn’t mentioned much in zoology handouts that list phylums) the only other phylum I’ve heard of being deuterostomes are Chordates and Echinodermata like starfish. I’m wondering where Balanoglossus fits into this, and what you heard about Balanoglossus to make you ask this question. 😛
