Hi! I have a question. I’m a little bit puzzled and I know it’s a stupid question, but how is studying a bacteria’s regulators in the cell cycle importance for research? Such as the CtrA gene, which codes for CtrA regulator. How will this help mankind and why is it significant? Please help! Thanks!

because learning to control bacterial growth can be important. if you can halt the cell cycle, that would arrest the bacteria and prevent it from reproducing. It might be useful in a drug or something of the sort.

because the cell cycle machinery is quite conserved and thus can be basically transferred to e.g. cancer

However, you could ask about the same for all the basic research. What is the point of it? Sometime it could lead to some application…
