I was recently reading about delayed implantation in bears and in weasels and was curious about how that worked. The egg is fertilized right away, but isn’t implanted into the uterine wall until the time is right… but where is it located in between? Is it in the fallopian tube? Is it in the uterus but not "implanted" yet? Does anybody actually know?

I believe the blastocyst remains floating in the uterus until the necessary physiological changes occur that promote the attachment of the blastocyst to the uterine wall
