Hello guys, i need help some help.
Im doin an essay on the influence of dextrose/glucose on the human body, one part of it is: does it have effect if you take dextrose before sprinting 100 meters, i am gonna do tests with about 30 people to figure this out, my hypothesis is that it does have an effect, but…….how?
What happens when dextrose is taken, does it go straight to the muscles to be used as energy or what?
Can you guys ghelp me with this?
thanks:)

not quite because
1. the amount of muscular effort in a 100 meter race will depend on the development of your muscles and the amount of myoglobine, not glucose. generally there is enough glycogen for 100 meters.
2. the blood glucose will remain ~constant anyway if you do not have diabetus mellitus. the exces glucose will simply be stored in the liver. if you do not eat and the body needs sugar, then the liver will release glucose - December 15, 2006 at 8:20 pm #62921mithParticipant
Remember, running requires endurance, speed, coordination etc etc, you really don’t want to have all those confounding factors mixed in.
However, companies such as gatorade have a couple of examples of other tests(your wallet is probably a lot lighter than theirs though)
