This is my first post on this forum but I am a regular reader of threads, and I was wondering if someone might be able to help me.
I am trying to determine the efficency of different dna extration methods. I am currently working with cell cultures containing a variety of different bacteria (Lactobacillus, Leuconostoc…).
Is there a method to determine the amount of DNA in a sample of cell culture?
I would like to know if my lysis technics are in fact giving me all the DNA (as in nearly) in the sample, or if not what percentage each technic yields.

DNA can be isolated from blood, tissues and even hair. Initially, the samples are collected and DNA is isolated from them. Later the isolated DNA samples are digested with a restriction enzyme and run on Agarose Gel Electrophoresis (AGE). Here the digested bands get separated according to their molecular weight. In the case of Paternity tests (DNA test as termed), the father’s and child’s DNA samples will be collected, digested and run on AGE and the bands will be compared.
