Hi!
I am being brought up in a creationist household, but have recently begun reading more concerning Evolution (like Dawkin’s The Ancestor’s Tale) It is fascinating!! So, anyway, this has really spurred my interest…so my question is how does one become an Evolutionary Biologist?? Do you have to Study another field of Biology or what?
Thanks!DF93

There is a degree in evolution biology.

A lot of evolutionary biologists have also worked their way in from other fields where they worked on evolutionary processes.
Interesting story in the field currently being discussed:

Systematics also deals with evolutionary theory, but in a different way. (Not sure if I explained that well enough).

I’m currently majoring in environmental biology, which involves a lot of evolution since evolution is, in a way, about how organisms respond and adapt to their environments. A lot of universities in my area actually combine the two fields into "environmental and evolutionary biology" degrees.

U of Kansas no longer required biology for their enviro sci degree. How messed up is that? At least that is what my coworker who just graduated with that degree said.

That doesn’t make a lot of sense to me. Here at NSU the only environmental program is with the biology department.
