I have been looking for a phytoplankton that is exclusively photosynthetic (meaning that it does not eat other living things to supplement its sea-water-mineral diet) and is also nitrogen fixing.

My second choice would be a nitrogen fixing phytoplankton that can survive and multiply without a source of living food (despite its ability consume use it).

If you happen to know of a species that fits either of these descriptions, I would greatly appreciate knowing its name.

      Thank you for your help.
