Glycoproteins are components of the plasma membrane. State two functions of these molecules. Plz help! 😆

It’s a good idea first to find out about the fuctions of the various proteins in the cell membrane; refer to Campbell, its quite clear from there.

I think they play a role is cell recognition. Blood typing etc.

a few of roles of glycoproteins:
– cell to cell binding. A hepatocyte will never bind to any other cell than another hepatocyte for example.
– deposits of cations. usually glycoproteins are sulfatated or acetylated
– protection of the cell from enzymes.
– cellular identity-blood types, as it has been said. The A and B antigene form from the 0 antigene, and they are all glycoproteinsAnd many more…
