We were talking about the photosynthesis equation today, and I was wondering why H2O appears on both sides of the equation? Normally it would be cancelled when that happens.

      6CO2 + 12H2O –> C6H12O6 + 6H2O + 6O2

      Hi,
that’s because the water is in the beginning decomposited to (activated) hydrogens and (molecular) oxygen by light harvesting complex and later on, during the Calvin cycle, it is again produced, but in another, independent reaction 😉
