      Hey guys, for my AP Biology year-long project I’m doing an experiment on how aspirin effects prostaglandin levels in a particular area by inhibiting COX-2. So I’m trying to figure out the rates of prostaglandin production and how they decrease as the Acetylsalicylic acid is put into the cell culture. Basically I have to figure out how I can get the tissue to produce prostaglandins (they have a very short half-life, so they’re only produced when needed). I’ve traced the path of prostaglandin production up to phospholipase A2, but I can’t find anything that has to do with it, I need to know what causes it to start catalyzing reactions that end up producing the prostaglandins. Anyone knowledgeable in this area?

      Another thing I need to do is determine the enzyme concentrations, and I have access to a lab so I’m sure they know what to do, however right now I’m required to write a procedure for my bio teacher. I’ve looked all over the internet and I can’t figure out how you can determine enzyme concentration! It would be great if someone could help me out, by posting here or emailing me at

      Hello Nicholas. How is going your project? I can send you some bibliographic references about prostaglandines and phospholypase A if you want, but I can’t do more, sorry :(.

      I recommend you to search in MEDLINE database (or in PUBMED).
