When we stare at an orange colour for 30 seconds and immediately look at a white screen, we see blue; the complementary colour to orange. Why does this happen? Can someone help me out? What happens in the cones of the eyes, and why does this happen? Help! Thanks a bunch 😯 If you don’t know, can you refer me to some good sites? Thanks

Could that have something to do with the blue pigments of the cones 😕

I think there’s a corelation between a sudden change of light wavelength with our eyes’ photorecertors..

The photoreceptors get locked into patterns when the eye stares at them for a long time– like if you watch a spiral spinning for a while, and then quickly look somewhere else, you’ll still see that swirling pattern for a moment.
