      Hi All,

I am asking myself this question, can you please help if you know an answer:

      which reaction is faster biologically?

      CO2 —> HCO3 + H+ (hydration) taking place outside the cell.
CO2<— HCO3 + H+ (dehydration) taking place inside the cell

      Many thanks,

The first one is easier to induce, which would in turn cause the cell to dehydrate anyway. It also depends on whether the cell is a plant cell or an animal cell. The cell walls are pretty tough and can resist a certain amount of pressure.

It’s an animal cell , if that helps.
