If we were to label the CO2’s on citrate, we would find that they are not dealt with equivalently by enzymes in the TCA cycle. Using appropriate vocabulary, explain how the CO2’s differ. Describe how their difference can be observed in the TCA reactions.

p.s. I only know how TCA is working. Pyruvate is oxidized into Co2 and H2O in the TCA reactions. But i don’t seem to understand why they are not dealt with equivalent by enzymes and how they differ then what differecne can be observe? i tried to solve this problem but couln’dt make it. It will be great if anyone can help me out.

follow the carbonatoms druing the Krebs cycle and investigate where they end up.

(you’ll find that pyruvate will yield ATP during the second cycle in the Krebs cycle)

I think it might be referring to the isocitrate and ketoglutarate reactions…

Everything you need is in this diagram. You’re welcome.

And please rename your topic. I moved it to the cell bio forum.

Great resource. i love this work :D. This is what i meant with: follow the C-atoms during TCA cycle.
