I know this question sounds weird and this may seem offensive to some of the members here..but i’m just curious…people, is there really a way on improving the smell or let’s say the "taste" of your ejaculate?
March 17, 2006 at 5:58 am #43526victorParticipant
I’ve ever read that ‘taste’ of ejaculation is kinda like a subjective sensation….so, I think it depends on you..
March 17, 2006 at 6:48 pm #43564
Just heard about it. Don’t know if it’s true or not but some say that it is partially related to what you eat.
PS: Yes those kind of questions can be considered as offensive. I hope you posted this just to LEARN. Otherwise it will be deleted.
March 17, 2006 at 7:05 pm #43574
I would agree that it is related to what you eat, just as urine, sweat and cerebrospinal fluid composition are related. Because it is created by secretion. I would say extra fructose would make it more sweet…
March 17, 2006 at 7:09 pm #43578
More sweet? I don’t think it tastes "sweet" at all.
But maybe not eating smelly things like garlic may help for smell.
March 17, 2006 at 7:30 pm #43595
Well, it contains fructose… So a lot of fructose makes something sweet don’t it?

Basic amines such as putrescine, spermine, spermidine and cadaverine are responsible for the smell and flavor of semen. These alkaline bases counteract the acidic environment of the vaginal canal (which is harmful to sperm), and protect DNA inside the sperm from acidic denaturation. Salts and metal ions in the semen help to create a more hospitable environment for the sperm in the vaginal canal.
Putrescine and cadaverine?! Cadavers smell like semen?
I don’t see why the taste or smell matters at all, the fluid goes into the vagina which lacks chemoreceptors which tell flavor or smell 😉

Well, not all goes into vagina. Like diring oral intercourse. But I have had former girlfriend saying my ejaculate tasted different/sweet before but I am not sure why. It could have something to do with what I ate, but I think maybe more likely it could be caused by certain things happening to body, like stress levels, or raised metabolism. I would never taste semen though so it would not matter to me. Or maybe a certain medication you take can change chemical levels in body.
I wonder if semen is affected the same way urine/sweat is when you eat strong foods like poison said for garlic?
March 18, 2006 at 8:30 pm #43701
Cadaverine and putresceine? Those things smell like hell.. They are some of the amines produced by intestinal flora in the process of feces production..

I’ve never read anything so disgusting in all my life. I may be an ‘old hippy’, (albeit a very young flower child), but I thought, in these days of increased knowledge about viruses that can be contained in body fluids, that nobody would allow such disgusting fluid in their mouth.
If you think of it as icky, and full of ‘tadpoles’, you might become similarly disinclined.
It’s meant to smell faintly of bleach – about the only good thing I can say about it. I think anyone who tastes this is crazy! Sorry for any offence, but the previous posts were like reading something from the 60’s, and I really did think people were very different now.
March 29, 2006 at 9:48 pm #44596quote Cilla:
A quick question: Don’t you think your husband or bf is clean regarding to viruses?
But if we are talking about an ordinary person you are right.
March 30, 2006 at 6:14 am #44620quote Cilla:
I agree with Poison. Any unprotected intercourse should be with person that has checked out medically. If Cilla still have problem after that, then just personal preference I think.
And what about husband/bf who perform oral sex on Cilla? They must be crazy too for they will ingest some vaginal fluid. Or is there double standard? And I have never see tadpoles in my own semen.
But maybe you are from older generation that does not engage in oral intercourse? That could be maybe.

Sorry about yesterday’s post. I was feeling a bit nauseated anyway, (probably because I had not eaten anything all day), and then let my imagination run away with me when reading all this, and I thought it all seemed so disgusting. There was ‘literature’ about this in the 60’s. I read my big sister’s novel on the fly, and it put me off for life!
Seriously, though, there is a health issue. You young people seem to have turned full circle, although it is good that you are able to talk freely about things.
I was once a nurse, and dated some doctors, before marrying one of them. I am revealing nothing else, (!), but I think that all sorts of blood borne viruses and bacteria can be picked up by working in a hospital.
Some men secrete small amounts of blood in their semen, (double yuck).
I’ve seen what look like tadpoles under the microscope, (treble yuck).
I now give talks on healthcare law and ethics, sometimes to those whose profession is to provide contraception and health education to patients, including, sometimes, minors.
My remit is to cover changes in the law concerning, e.g. consent and confidentiality. Going over legislation can get a bit dry, but it’s got to be learned by the practitioners. I liven things up a bit at times by cracking the odd joke.
These practitioners tend to advise condoms for this sort of thing, because body fluids can be dangerous for the reasons mentioned. I would respect them, because nobody wants to catch anything, do they?
March 30, 2006 at 9:11 pm #44689
Yes, I see. Someone that is a stranger is not the one you should share sexuality. But take a look at your husband. You already have vaginal intercourse with your husband. So?
Tadpoles in semen?? I don’t think so…
PS: agreed on the "preference" thing.
March 31, 2006 at 6:01 am #44718
Oh I think I get it. Tadpoles = swimming spermatocytes? Haha, never thought of it that way.
March 31, 2006 at 9:17 pm #44772
😀 Oh. I see. Swimming sperms=tadpoles. 😀 But I still couldn’t get something. What is so disgusting about them…
