A research reported online in Nature Medicine shows that a protein of stems cells is able to promote the growth of muscle tissue after injury. This would improve the therapies for muscle degeneration that is triggered by age or disorders. The researchers found that a protein termed integrin exists on the surface of stem cells. Integrin is essential for the interaction between stem cells and the environment. This interaction has a great impact on these cells.
