ParticipantI think the main part is that you need to have a strong love for biology.
A biologist can do anything from studying fish behavior, to protein analysis, to antibiotic research, to studying plants, etc. It’s a very broad topic.
Depends on the quality of the job with the degree. If you want to get a job doing lab work at a good pharmaceutical company, they may not want a General Biology major, maybe a biochemisry major, Microbiology major, Molecular Biology, etc.
So what part of Biology interests you? Do you want to study animals, plants, microorganisms, molecules, etc?

ParticipantThere is another option if you are not sure which field you want to pursue. Some universities offer a general course, specialising as you progress, like myself, Ive just completed a general first year biology course covering vast topics, and as i get interested in some, i can specialise farther untill I get my final specialisation, a course liekt hat for you would no doubt leave your options open yetlet you geta broard approach?

ParticipantThats what I’m planning to do, after getting my associates in accounting I realized it just wasn’t for me. So I transferred to a biology with a minor in education program, couldn’t be happier with that decision. I’m hoping after I get my bachelors and a job I can do grad work in the summers… ah the beauty of being a teacher! 2 months off every year ( at least in new york)

ParticipantHmm, my favourite topics regarding biology are mainly on Virology, Genetics and Microbiology (bacteria) – it’s pretty interesting and amazing learning about all these little things which are not visible to the naked eye =)
best colleges for that, would depend on the country you are looking at?

Remember never listen to your bio instructer. Most of them aren’t interested in biology itself. Eventhough i feel great studying bio. coz its simply the best. 😈

ParticipantWhy not listen to the instructor?
I too do not like my teachers because i know more than them in many fields of biology… But remember that a teacher can always teach you new things…. -
