Hey guys, i’m new to these boards, so sorry if its in the wrong place or already been asked, but would it be possible to alter somebodies cells or something inside them, so that say if they lost a limb, it would grow back over time, or make somebody really strong (i mean like lifting tonnes), basically becoming a mutant by just altering certain DNA or changing cells? What about exposure to certain amounts of Radiation? Obviously if it were possible it would be illegal. Would it be possible to put an animals genes or DNA into a human, (abit like spider-man) but what would happen?
This may sound stupid but i’m just interested if it could happen now, or maybe in the future?
And yes… i probably have been watching to many superhero movies 🙂 - December 21, 2005 at 6:30 pm #35335MrMisteryParticipant
Now, NO! I agree that you have watched to many superhero movies. By the way the human femur can’t stand a force bigger than 1.5 tones so you would have to “improve the bones to”.
In the future, who knows? You meight do it and get the Noble prize.. 😉 - December 21, 2005 at 7:06 pm #35338mithParticipant

Thanks guys, and i’ll take your word for it.
Can the femur really take 1.5 tonnes, becuase the world record for lifting is only about 900 pounds, and thats not even half a tonne

The femur can take it, as in it won’t brake until 1.5 tones. However there is that small problem of having muscles to lift 1.5 tones

Ligaments/tendons would snap too
