Hello people, this is my first post and i’d like to start with a question ( actually two )

I recently read into an old biology book ( that was written during the communist regime ) that they were absolutely anti Virchovism ( don’t really know why, that’s why i’m asking ).I do understand why they are anti other idealistic theories ( such as vitalist theory ) because it involved religion and they were absolutely anti spiritism or other manifestation of it. So i ask, why is that?
Another issue that involves the same book and situation is the debate between miciurinism and weismanno-mendelo-morganism.Why is that? Both theories have roots involving mendelian genetics so therefore are kinda related. Was it just a political issue , the battle between the regimes?

Thank you very much for reading my post and for all the possible future answers, and please excuse my grammar ( i’m romanian )
