My question is what is the therapeutic advantage if someone with a colorectal tumor is diagnosed being microsatellite instable. Tx.

Actually I just came across one answer: "factors such as increased microsatellite instability have been associated with improved survival in patients with right-sided lesions."

Another question regarding MSI. When PCR amplifying microsatellite markers for subsequent fragment analysis by microcapillary elfo – is it important to use an ultra-high fidelity polymerase, or is it not important?

OK, another question: I can see how insertion/deletion can be detected by fragment analysis, but incorporation of a wrong nucleotide wouldn’t cause change in the length of amplicon, so can that also be detected by fragment analysis?
