Suppose that you examined 100 cells in onion root tip squashes and obtained the following results:
Interphase – 62 cells
Prophase – 12 cells
metaphse – 1 cell
Anaphase – 11 cells
Telophase – 14 cellsWhy is the number of cells showing the metaphase stage so low?
I know that one of the reasons is because metaphase is such a short stage, it won’t have as many cells as the other ones. But I know there has got to be more to the question. Can anyone help?

no there is nothing more. that is the answer. Metaphase is much shorter. And someone else posted the exact same question on the forum a few weeks ago. Do a forum search. Topic locked.
