Benefit: Biodiversity
Harmful: Abnormality - March 3, 2007 at 9:59 pm #69652DarbyParticipant
There are a lot of genetic diseases that are beneficial in some environments but harmful in others.
Like sickle-cell hemoglobin. Beneficial in the face of malaria, not so much elsewhere. Cystic fibrosis, Tay-Sachs. Maybe schizophrenia, although that might be just a rare multiple-gene effect.
