For my exam which is coming up next month I have to know what the difference between ossification and osteogenesis is. However, in medical dictionaries and books there isn’t a clear difference between the two. Most use the two terms synonymously. Can someone please help me out and tell me how the two terms differ – if at all.
      Thanks

They are a lot alike aren’t they. I understand you confusion. I think the main difference is osteogenesis is the formation of new bone where the other is formation over the new bone.
Consider the word genesis. Greek for birth or origin.

Thanks for you your help – it makes sense now. I guess it helps to split the word up into prefix and suffix.
      Thanks
