Salt composition of a quiescent cell

      We were asked the following question in a test:

      What would be the order (decreasing) of concentrations of the metal ions K+, Na+, Mg+2 and Ca+2 in a quiescent mammalian cell?

      I wasn’t able to figure out any changes that may arise during quiescence, so I answered:

      K+ > Mg+2 > Na+ > Ca+2

      Now that I think about it, perhaps not as much Mg+2 would be present inside the cell due to lower ATP demand?

      Please help me out. Clearly my concepts aren’t strong.
