Hello,
I am trying to understand the difference between DNA microarray and Tiling array and I don’t succed.
Can someone explain the tiling array?Thank you,

Here is what I think to be the clearest part of the wiki article about this subject:
quote :Traditional DNA microarrays designed to look at gene expression use a few probes for each known or predicted gene. In contrast, tiling arrays can produce an unbiased look at gene expression because previously unidentified genes can still be incorporated. As for myself, I’m discovering all this.

hello,
as I know, DNA microarray takes uses several probes ( known sequences that can be genes or not) and by hybridizing a target cDNA sequence we cand find out which genes were exprimed.
(still need a confirmation about this: do we take the whole cDNA target and put it into every DNA microarray spot?)now, what’s unclear to me is the Tiling array procedure. I understood we use more probes (300.000 up to 6 mil) tht cover all genome( maybe several times). what do I do next.. I try to hibridize all the cDNA seq?
Thanks,

there are several procedures for chips, some use whole genes, some use about 300 nts and Affymetrix uses 25 nts
