all of our body processes can be generalized as this equation below:
A + B –> C + D
In chemistry, if we want to obtain C and D so quickly, then we have to do 2 classical ways which are:
1. Heat it uuuuuup….
2. add catalyst
But unfortunately, our body have to maintain it’s temperature in normal (about 37º C), so, we can’t use option number one to speed up the chemical processes in our body. So, our last choice is only number two….and that’s what enzymes are for…to speed up the reaction.. 😀

Enzymes act as a catalyst (aka-speed switch) so that reaction rates can be increased or decreased. If the enzyme is working to hard a inhibitor will stop the enzyme. This is useful in cells so that you don’t end up with to much of a substance and not enough of another. (especially in processes that require both substances for the reaction to continue)
