what is a restriction enzyme?

      i have a quistion about restriction enzymes.what is it how can it be used and what is the procces of recombinant? ❓ 😕

      Restriction enzymes like endonuclease, ECO R1 cut DNA at particular sequences like GAATTC ..
      Then this DNA fragment can be inserted to a plasmid which can be transfered to a vector( bacteria ) to multiply it and to produce a gene library.

      usually they cleave DNA at so called palindromes. Recall that besides cohesive ends, blunt ends can also be generated, which are more difficult to ligate in a plasmid.
