I have a question regarding the coursework, I hope this query doesn’t make me sound downright thick but here we go. The investigation is to find the lowest temperature that kills all the yeast cells in a suspension. Using anaerobic respiration and methylene blue to observe whether yeast cells are alive or dead. I did some research, and found out that yeast cells die when exposed to ethanol concentrations of 15% or above in a solution. If the equation is as follows:

      sugar—–>alcohol, carbon dioxide and energy

then how would I measure the percentage of ethanol, to make sure that the yeast does not die?

Or will the concentration not get that high?

Any advice and pointers would be extremely welcome.
