      Hi,

I have observed something which puzzles me.Why is it that backward or weak babies have rather big heads?
Does it have to do anything with the brain?
Could anyone tell me why it is so, or was it jst a coincidence?

At least in some cases (hydrocephalus) this is because of swelling, not an actual increase in the brain size. Actually, the swelling caused by excess cerebrospinal fluid inside the cranium diminishes the brain size.

About other causes of "big heads" for backward babies I’m not sure of. Maybe in some cases the head just looks big if the rest of the body is weak or ill-developed?

when babies has a bigger portion for head vs body size.. so that, it looks like that baby has bigger head. there’s nothing to do with the brain

I’m not sure if that’s what the original poster meant… but yeah, you’re right in what you say 🙂
