Hi guys!
My question is ‘What are the reasons for the evolution of Compartmentalisation in Eukaryotes?’
Can anyone help? Please!!!

Can you be clearer? Context?

Sure.
‘Eukaryotic cells have many membrane bound organelles, whereas prokaryotic cells don’t. What are the advantages and other consequences of such Compartmentalisation in eukaryotic cells?’
Thanks 😀

Think of a factory with different sections as the eukaryote and think of a factory with just one large room as the prokaryote. I think the difference is clear.

Thanks. Good analogy. I know the difference between prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells, but I want to know what are the advantages of membrane bound organelles for eukaryotic cells (i.e. how do they aid in the functions of eukaryotic cells)?
❓

Think of mitochondria. The specialized cristae structure increases surface area, making it much more efficient.

Mithril is right. Think of it in terms of the factory. If you have one worker that does everything or 1000 workers that are each specialised for doing one specific thing? In which case do you have a better product. Or here is another example: A hospital full of specialist or a hospital full of GP’s. Which will treat more patients?
Just like this, each organelle has a specific function and is specialised for that function, so it will do it a lot better - September 5, 2005 at 3:45 pm #29208punk rock princessParticipant
Thanks

Sorry? I don’t understand what you mean!!! Could you be a little clearer?
