Total length of human DNA per cell is 1-2 metres, it is roughly 8.5cm per chromosome. There are 46 chromosomes in a cell. The chromosomes are separated from each other. My question are, is the 2m long DNA measured by joining each 8.5cm DNA or

the 2m DNA is never cut or separate and it is a continual seqeunce?

If it is continual sequence, how can it being assorted into 46 chromosomes? [/b]

the total length of DNA packed inside the nucleus is 2 meters. About 8.5 cm per chromosome. there are 46 chromosomes thus DNA is not full 2 m log. it is divided in 46 parts. the length of each chromosome is measured using cytogenetic tools and then it is added to give total length of the DNA. 8.5 cm per chromosome is just an average taken out.
hope you got your answer 🙂
