It’s been my experience that biologists hate chemistry. I know I do! I’m a biology major taking a general chem class and I can’t stand it.

I love my organic chemistry class though. It’s so different… much more my thing.

I was just wondering who here hates or hated chemistry in college.

      Hi
Actually,I think the majority of Biology students don’t like Chemistry so much.I am a Biology & Chemistry major πŸ˜€ ,so I studied both but I consider myself a Biologist πŸ˜‰ .
I guess most of Biologists like organic chemistry because it relates to biology and biochemistry but on the other hand I think biologists hate physical chemistry coz we feel it’s boring. πŸ™„

But I should say that the langauge of Biology is Chemistry ,so Biology speaks Chemistry 8)
I guess you should concentrate on organic and biochemistry and you may need to read a little about physical and inorganic chemistry 😯

      Good Luck

I find chemistry quite interesting. I do prefer biology but never hate chemistry.

Biochemistry and organic chemistry is very much related to biology. But then, physical and inorganic chemistry has also important connection to biology. For instance, the change of color when iodine is added to starch is because of the formation of starch-triiodide complex which absorbs a certain wavelength of light and reflect the blue-black color to us.

I see that many things are related. To be a really great biologist, one should learn those things.

I don’t hate chemistry. However I do have the thought every once in a while that to focus too much on it is to miss the forest for the trees. I think it’s possible to get lost in the details of chemistry. I suspect that organisms can be manifested in many different chemical contexts.

      quote mith:

Chemistry is like coloring for grownups

That settles it. I am buying a dirt bike and taking up sky diving.

Guess it’s my professor then… he’s a pitiful excuse for an instructor.

I love chemistry, and most other sciences.
