Hello boyz n girlz
Does potato skin carry/ contain the enzyme catalase> can potato skin effect the rate at which catalase breaks down hydrogen peroxide to give h20 & o2. - November 13, 2005 at 12:04 pm #32628LeesaParticipant
Woah, im not sure about this one, im presuming no, and the only reason I come to this hypothesis, is the digestive system. In the digestive system the enzymes, do not react well with carbohydrates, and they cannot easily be broken down. So if the enzymes can’t break it down, how can they break down peroxide? . If potato skin had the enzyme catalase, the digestive system wouldn’t need so many enzymes to break down a simple potato. Im thinking no, as for the H20, peroxide. Well peroxide is like an enzyme in itself, except a chemical, so im a bit sceptical of that, im not sure.
