Maybe you could be more specific. I haven’t encountered this term yet. Or maybe it is called differently. Is this an isolation method? Like in isolating keratophilic fungi by hair-baiting the samples.

yeah i came across this technique in isolation of fungi. There are no materials available on this technique. Please provide it if anyone have it.

Well, I haven’t had experience in this yet; but logically if you want to isolate samples that have certain affinity to feathers, you must include feathers in your culture media. If you think feathers have some component that favors the growth of your organisms, then you can probably compare using control plates. You have to probably consider that autoclaving the feather extract might decompose whatever growth factor is present. You can try using selective media and/or adding inhibitors to lessen contaminating population. There are so many other factors and culture conditions that can affect your results but you’ll encounter them once you start planning your procedures.

baiting is a technique..commonly used in microbiology. feather baiting is jst the isolation of mo’s from feathers or growth of keratinase producing m.o’s with feathers. paraffin baiting also is a technique. baiting is jst a food or other lure placed on a hook or in a trap and used in the taking of fish, birds, or other animals, in this case microorganisms!!!!
