Is the difference between B-limphocytes and T-limphocytes only in the place? B is staying in the bone marrow and T is travelling around the body?

There is a lot of difference betwn T n B cells apart from there origin.
1. T cells i.e. cytotoxic T cells participate in cell killing reactions i.e. they cause target cell death by binding to a special receptor on target cell which will cause it to die by apoptosis.
2. B cells differentiate into plasma cells which secrete Ag specific Abs which precipitate the Ag out of the circulation to removed later by phagocytes.
3. T cells generally protect the body from viruses, fungi and cancers.
4. B cells generally protect the body from bacteria.…and many more.
Plz refer a good Immunology text-book e.g. Janus Kuby, Tizzard
or even Answers.com is an eexcellent web-repository - May 8, 2005 at 12:13 pm #22235victorParticipant
Wow…those are really differences…well, thanks anway, Because I can’t find all of the differences that you’d mentioned in my senior high school textbooks..Thanks 😀

Never think that you will find everything abot anything in your textbook, victor. And do not be surprised if you find wrong information

Hey,
Plz consider these differences as just rough guidelines. In reality i.e. in a real body, in the event of a real infection both these “arms” of the immune system – B cells & T cells – co-operate in their immunological functions.
One more difference that I found today in my class notes :
T cells can recognise foreign Ags only in an MHC dependent manner
B cells can recognise foreign Ags in an MHC independent manner. - May 10, 2005 at 12:30 pm #22305victorParticipant
By the way, Sir cytochrome, what does it means? Sorry, maybe I don’t really know much of their details because I’m just a senior high school student..Maybe at least you can give me some note about it,he2….Thanks

Firstly- I ain’t no “SIR” 😆 …I am just a student
Sorry if I went into too much detail …I was’nt aware that u were just a senior high guy
Plz dont get scared by the terms (MHC…and stuff) …they just sound fancy , but are pretty easy stuff when u read bout them.
I guess… u can expect to encounter this level of detail approx. during ur 2nd yr of graduation (ofc IF u go for a biological career ) - May 14, 2006 at 7:31 am #48344Dr.SteinParticipantquote victor:Is the difference between B-limphocytes and T-limphocytes only in the place? Dear victor,
plz spell the terms correctly. these are B-lymphocytes and T-lymphocytes respectively. Rest, other members have given good responce to your questions. - May 17, 2006 at 2:22 pm #48550victorParticipant
Ok ok…I have known it now.. (I think you should see the date when I was asking that question… )
