Protoplasm is made of 30%protein,fats,oils,carbohydrates, and various mineral ions and 70% ____. What five letter word could fill in the blank?
❓ 🙁 - November 26, 2006 at 8:32 pm #61176rob3Participant
It begins with a W, the last letter is R, and the three in the middle aare ATE

Thanks! Um one …ok maybe a few more questions.
1. The cell of a unicellular organism is more___than a cell of a multicellular organism because the single cell preforms all life functions. 7-letter word.
2. A unicellular organism locates,traps,ingestes, __, and egests food substances. 7-letter word. - November 26, 2006 at 8:43 pm #61178nhuyshadow28Participant
Cellular shapes___. 4-letter word? Any help much appreciated.

The composition of protoplasm is continuously changing, therefore, thousands of different___are brought into or made by the cell. 10-letter word.
Each cell within a multicellular organism __on another because different cells perform different functions. 7-letter word.
___may occur in the cell shape of some unicellular organisms as life funtions are carried out. 7-letter word. - November 26, 2006 at 8:52 pm #61181nhuyshadow28Participant

Do you not have any ideas for any of the answers? Also I think the number of letters for a couple of them may be wrong by one.
- November 26, 2006 at 9:02 pm #61183nhuyshadow28Participant
I’m pretty sure the numbers aren’t wrong unless i have lost the ability to count and i think some answers could be (in order posted)
1.organelles
2.depend
no clue on the rest. - November 27, 2006 at 9:43 am #61214rob3Participant
1. complex
2. digests
Cellular shapes – no ideaThe composition of protoplasm is continuously changing, therefore, thousands of different (molecules?- not 10 letters but i am sure it is not organelles, as they are not brought into the cell) are brought into or made by the cell. 10-letter word.
Each cell within a multicellular organism (relies) on another because different cells perform different functions. 7-letter word.
(Changes?)may occur in the cell shape of some unicellular organisms as life funtions are carried out. 7-letter word. - November 27, 2006 at 3:46 pm #61234MrMisteryParticipant
relies can be substituted for depends.
and i would also say changes on the last one - November 27, 2006 at 3:48 pm #61235MrMisteryParticipant
ps: what kind of homework is this, these look more like crossroad puzzles
- November 28, 2006 at 12:36 am #61263nhuyshadow28Participant
The homework is a crossword puzzle. My teacher is weird like that.

Sorry to bother everyone but i need some serious help on analogies of organelles.
I need 2 find analogies 4 these (they can be related 2 anything)
Please help its due tomorrow.
I have some ideas but feel free 2 correct me.

I have the same homework. Can you help me with number 12. ___ is the living material within the cell. It is divided into two regions.
And number 6. Examples of single-celled organisms include bacteria, amorbas, certain algae, and _______.
Thanks 🙂 - September 17, 2009 at 5:09 am #92836david23Participant
for the 10 letter words, it’s substances (both molecules and ions).
- September 18, 2009 at 2:57 pm #92854MrMisteryParticipant
i’ve always found this type of exercise terribly unscientific. Sure, you can do some analogies to better understand the role of some organelles, but all the organelles in a cell do more than one thing. for example, the ER is not only a circulatory apparatus of the cell, it is also the site where membrane and secreted proteins are made, the site of disulfide bond formation, the site of the first protein modifications such as carbohydrate addition and signal peptide cleavage, the place where Calcium is stored, the place where most phospholipids are made etc. See what i mean?
