Remutation – term definition

Could anybody define the term REMUTATION?

I think ‘Reverse mutation’ is the best description.

According to what I have red (if I got it right), it can be still another mutation in the same gene: not reverse but still the same gene mutation. Is it right/wrong? I need to know.

To the best of my knowledge there is no consensus on this matter as you would find for quite a lot of terms in molecular biology. I mean there is no consensus even on the definition of the gene! I also don’t think this term is widely used.

I can make a theoretical case for ‘remutation’ being an additional mutation within the same gene if it results in the product that can perform original function, but even that most likely will affect the same area as the first mutation…

Thanks a lot. This is what I suspected after some reading: there is no consensus on this matter…

According to my content it seems to relult in an additional malfunction; of course, most likelely affefcting the same area.
