How does the akali destroys mRNA in the hybrid? Does it means "the bonding of nucleotides in mRNA degrades naturally in a high pH"?
Or I had misunderstood its meaning?

mRNA has ribose sugar in its nucleotides, which is susceptable for alkali degradation. where as in the DNA deoxy ribose is present in its nucleotides which will resist alkali degradation.
