Hello,
Hope this post has a better outcome than my previous one which is still waiting for an answer! 😛 Do someone now how to extract RNA from feathers of adult birds? if so, can you suggest me some papers or methodologies to follow please?
Many thanks in advance 🙂B

here’s something that sounds kinda like how you’re looking for http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov.ezp-prod1.h … ed/4519025 but I have no clue how to get that paper, that journal has no website

Hey Andrew you page is behind a wall (special version of NCBI for Harvard, did not know that existed…) the link is:
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/entrez?db=pubmed&cmd=DetailsSearch&term=4519025
But it seems that you have quite a choice if you type RNA Isolation from feather in Google. Like that:
http://jvdi.org/cgi/reprint/13/2/162.pdf
and I am pretty sure that this method can be adapted for RNA (use the lysis conditions then do a trizol purification instead of the phenol choloroform):

oops, sorry about that. That thing they have from both pubmed and google scholar gets me instant access to full text of every paper, that’s why I use that. I usually remember to give the proper link, but that one slipped. Sorry
