i got a question
what is the best material for studying mitosis in the lab?
a)anther
b)root tip
c)leaf tip
what if i add another option
d)shoot tip
i think both root and shoot tips can be used
but i have never been to a lab and am not sure - March 24, 2006 at 7:14 pm #44165MrMisteryParticipant
I have no idea what a shoot tip is, but rrot tip is ok. But you need a good microscope

i think that the shoot tip is the apical meristem of the plant

shoot tip= tip of the shoot
shoot=A young branch which sprouts from the main stock. - March 26, 2006 at 7:54 pm #44322MrMisteryParticipant
In that case, yes, a shoot tip would also be good.
The classic study of mitosis is done on root cells of onion - March 27, 2006 at 10:34 am #44357swatkatParticipant

i think both root and shoot tips can be used
but i have never been to a lab and am not sureroot tips will always be a better option for studying mitosis , as shoot tips might cause a problem in visualization due to presence of chloroplasts. onion , garlic root tips give exellent results for mitotic studies
