Hey guys, I was wondering if someone could confirm that the scienfic name for Sucrose is either glucosylsucrose OR
alpha-d-glucopyranosly beta-D-Fructofuanoside?? π - January 19, 2006 at 7:06 am #37647PoisonParticipant
From one of my books: (It is similar to the second one, but not the same):
alpha-D-glucopyranosyl (1-2) beta-D-fructofuranoside

My source tells: 1-alpha-D-glucopyranosyl-2-beta-D-fructofuranoside
A bit different (again) from previous names above eh? π

Actually, basically DrStein’s and mine are the same. (If I’m not mistaken) It tells that 1st carbon of glucose is binded to 2nd carbon of fructose with different notations.

According to sigma the synonims are:
α-D-Glc-(1→2)-β-D-Fru
α-D-Glucopyranosyl β-D-fructofuranoside
β-D-Fructofuranosyl-α-D-glucopyranoside
D(+)-Saccharose
SugarGlucosyl sucrose is another sugar build as : Glc-Glc-Fru

I am jealous to you, Canalon because you can write the ‘alpha-beta’ thingy π

Copy paste from sigma website. Otherwise just find the correct ASCII coding… I don’t know it α and β, but its alt-0181 for Β΅ and alt-0186 for ΒΊ
Ovious eh? π - January 20, 2006 at 5:31 pm #37886PoisonParticipantquote Dr.Stein:I am jealous to you, Canalon because you can write the ‘alpha-beta’ thingy π
Me too. π
Thanks for the suggestion Patrick. π
