      Gametes are sex cells.

Germ cells are the precursors to Gametes.

Germ cells are diploid (they have two pairs of chromosomes) and undergo meiosis to produce gametes (which are haploid, one pair).

look up terms such as "spermatogenesis" and "oogenesis"

"regular" cell division is mitosis (keeps number of chromosomes), gamete production is meiosis, which make from diploid cells haploid cells 😉

      quote ajri02:

But How is the production of gametes different than regular cell division?

Gametogenesis is done through meiosis, and cell division through mitosis. Look them up.

Meiosis and mitosis are both cell divisions 🙄
      BTW I wrote that already… 🙄
