Hello to everyone on Biology-online I just wanted to know if some one perhaps know what a ADAM
gene is. I’ ve been doing a little studying in the Genetic field but I may have gone a little to in depth.
If you could help or could give an opinion that would help a bunch, Thank you Biology-Online.

Well there is an ADAM gene family, they are a family of extracellular metalloproteases that cleave the extracellular portion of membrane proteins. from what I know, there are at least 5 different genes in that family. they are involved (at least) in the first steps in the activation of the Notch Receptor. I remember the ADAM proteases have also been connected with Alzheimer’s disease, but not how unfortunately.
