This is not a special agar, but a way to prepare some type of agar:
In a test tube that has been put to cool down on an angle and you get this:

Why is it useful compared to a flat plate agar?

It can be used for transport, and also for some test (check TSI -Triple Sugar Iron) wher you want t osee growth in aerobiosis and anaerobiosis
