In extracellular matrix Collagen & Elastin is present.
Collagen is for strength & Elastin is for elastisity?
So why 2? Is there any another molecule acting as both? - February 25, 2006 at 5:42 pm #41778sdekivitParticipant
collagen is needed for resistance to stretchforces (tissue strength) elastin is needed for recoiling of the tissue to the original stat after deformation.
–> these two have different function so both are needed.

and no, there is no one molecule that can do both as good as these two molecules do them individually…
